Need a quick solution when feeling overwhelmed and anxious or dealing with any uncomfortable emotions? Try EFT, Emotional Freedom Technique, also known as Tapping.
The basic premise is that you tap on specific energy points on the body to alleviate symptoms of anxiety, physical or mental pain. EFT has also been effective with helping to alleviate PTSD symptoms. I've used EFT for all kinds of emotions; jealousy and envy to anger, and sadness. Tapping is also beneficial for stress, muscle tension, joint pain, fatigue, depression, sleep problems, and tension headaches. All you need is you, a set-up statement, and your fingers and you're ready to start tapping away. A few sessions may be needed before you feel relief, or you may feel relief right away. Remember, we are tapping to change brain activity and bring you to the “rest, digest, and heal” part of the nervous system also known as our parasympathetic nervous system.
I was first introduced to tapping about four years ago in 2018, when I read “Judgment Detox” by Gabrielle Bernstein. It was a tool that I used to release judgment towards myself and other people. In 2020, I was at my favorite local coffee spot in New Hampshire and saw “The Tapping Solution to Create Lasting Change,” by Jessica Ortner at the book exchange. I was reminded how much tapping helped me a few years before, so I picked it up and read it. This book gave me so much insight on how tapping works and it gave me relief. Like any tool that you acquire during your lifetime, you use some more than others and sometimes you forget about other methods that you’ve used in the past. I like to keep track of tools and offer them to clients for their different needs. Sometimes, it’s breath work. Sometimes, it’s Reiki, other times it’s EFT or journaling. They are all tools used to shift our energy. Because that is all that emotions are, energy motions, emotions. Use your tools to shift your energy and change how you think and feel.
Most recently, I have been hosting live EFT sessions on Insight Timer. After the session, I record the guided EFT and upload it to Insight Timer for others to use as a tool. If you have tried other modalities: Reiki, prayer, meditation, mantra, chanting, or breath work, give EFT a try. It may become your quickest way out of difficult emotions.
